Pinterest Inspired Blog Hop

Welcome to our Pinterest Inspired Blog Hop.

Are you addicted to Pinterest?  Do you have several boards with pins that you said "I've got to try that!"?  Well here is your inspiration to create those awesome projects you want to try but have not yet done so.

Ashley (aka The Glamorous Side Of Scrapping) here and I am your hostess with the mostest.

I have rounded up some talented crafters who love Pinterest just as much as I do to bring you this inspirational blog hop!

Here is the lineup...

I love Pinterest so much. Shocking enough I pin more fashion and food than anything else. To check out my boards, click here.

So I decided on two projects....

I decided for my initial project I would make keychains. Here is the link to where I found it. And here is the inspiration photo...

Now I am no sewer. Tried lots of times and it's been an epic fail each time so I decided to create these keychains with paper, elastic and a keyring. Here is what I came up with...

I think they turned out pretty cool.  I made one for myself and one for my sister Brittany.  Next time I make more (and I will make more) I will try some sort of Modge Podge just to give them a little more sturdiness.  To hold the elastic in place I have it sandwiched in between the two shapes.  I used the red tacky tape as well as E6000 glue so it's not going anywhere.  Warning the E6000 is very sticky so use with care a little bit can go a long way.

The papers used are from my stash as well as the elastic and keyrings.  The shape and font come from the Silhouette store.

For my other project I decided to make a Mind Bottle.  They call them Mind Jars, Calming Jars, Time Out Jars.  Perfect for children.
A Mind Jar is a meditation tool to use whenever a child feels stressed, overwhelmed or upset.  Good for adults too.  Imagine the glitter as your thoughts. When you shake the jar, imagine your head full of whirling thoughts, then watch them slowly settle while you calm down.
Here is the link where I found this project.  And here is the photo...

After a couple of attempts and some tweaking of my own, here is my "Relax" bottle....

Papers are from my stash and the Tag, Font and Star are from the Silhouette store.  And of course I couldn't resist the White gel pen :)

Looks pretty calm at the moment.  But give it a shake....

After awhile the glitter starts to settle...

I love my relax bottle.  As the glitter settles it looks like it has different color layers.  The bottle sits on my desk and I give it a shake every once in awhile.  Most of you know me, you know I lose my train of thought and creativity sometimes so this is perfect to bring me back.

So as for blog candy....

One winner will receive a $20 gift card to their choice of Michaels or Joanns.

To win....
1. Must comment on all hop stops. We always welcome new followers but not necessary to win the blog candy.
2. Tell me if you have a Pinterest account and if you don't mind giving me the link so I can check it out :)
3. Tell me what you like to pin the most
4. Leave a way for me to reach you

Using Random.org I will announce the winner on Sunday, August 16th.

Thank you for hopping and I hope you enjoy the hop. We have had such a great time creating for you all and hope you find some inspiration to give your "hey I gotta try that" a whirl.

I will now send you off to Maria's Blog!

Have a fabulous crafty day!

Love both of your projects - I used to have a wand that settled & it was cool to look at when you were stressed. The keychains are great - I need to do that for some keys at work!
Thanks for coordinating the hop; it was great to "make myself" make something from pinterest...

The key chains are wonderful and I was thinking you could just run them through the laminating Xyron to protect them?
I adore the relaxing bottle...want to mass produce them???
Thanks for a fun filled, inspiring hop, always a delight to be part of what ever you are in!

Great projects Ashley! I love the relaxation bottle. I pinned one of those too with every intention of making on for my kids. This may have just been the inspiration I needed to actually make one.

Thanks so much for having me in this hop. I've really enjoyed myself.

what cute projects. I'm really glad that you used the bottle instead of a glass jar. I was not thinking glass would work for my kids, but your project is the solution. yes I have a pinterest account http://pinterest.com/pinkdalmations/ I probably pin scrapbooking stuff & right now shower/wedding stuff the most.

Hi Ashley ... Your projects (as usual!) are super-cute. I love the concept of the Relax Jar though I don't believe I have the patience or attention span to make it a viable option for my use. It's a sickness! My Pinterest account is http://pinterest.com/esjarvis/, and right now, most of my pins are on Copic marker tutorials, organization stuff for my messy craft room, word art, holiday ideas, and yummy recipes, probably in that order.

Fondly,
Ellen (CardMonkey)
